Sip and Just 'Paint' plans to bring new and exciting weekday events with a twist to Cities near you… Our aim is to trial our ideas and gather interest to allow us to continue to host our quirky events, with a future aim to branch out to other cities. Both of us have lived in busy cities - New York and London, where every evening there was something to do, somewhere to go and new people to meet. However since moving back to our home towns, we’ve felt bored and fed up of living the mundane lifestyle, of home – work/ work – home. Having nothing to do after work on a weekday and solely looking forward/ living for the weekend. We wanted to see if others felt the same "smaller cities just want to have fun too(8)"
We held our first event last year in Birmingham (@Bacchus Bar) and Manchester (@Dive Bar NQ)...
Upon arrival, each guest was offered a glass of wine; red or white, and were provided with all the essentials from aprons to pencils, paint and canvases (everything you could ask for).
Everyone casually socialised whilst we waited for the last couple of our guests to arrive and corrected a few hiccups (such as uploading the image onto the projector). We were then able to start the event...
We did ‘our thing’ and got everyone to introduce themselves including us (ice breaker), we were pleasantly surprised to hear that a couple of our guests had been to painting events previously (we felt the pressure as we knew we needed to at least match the standard). After asking guests if we were ok to take photos, (which everyone was more than happy for us to do), the real fun started.
Our tutor went round personally aiding each person, guiding them to construct their best possible painting. Guests came with friends but
everyone socialised and mingled (one of our aims
instantly achieved).
We were able to take collective photos of everyone’s masterpieces, our night ended with us becoming freelance photographers taking group photos for our guests for them to upload to their social media accounts. We asked guest if they wouldn’t mind completing our feedback form which would help us to improve our glitches, we have to say – our feedback was pretty good...
